1810 -- A Thomas and a James Reddick are married in a double ceremony to Elizabeth and Joanne Carroll (various surname spellings), respectively - in Abbeville District, S.C., on April 23, 1810 by the Reverend Moses Waddell, who then resided in Willington, S.C., Abbeville District (which lies immediately across the Savannah River from portions of Lincoln County, GA). Reverend Waddell is quite notable for having trained a future U.S. Vice-President and U.S. senators & various congressmen at his Willington Academy. Later, Rev. Waddell became the President of Franklin College, which is the core institution of the present-day University of Georgia, Athens. The importance of a double wedding ceremony having been performed by an already celebrated educator seems to highlight this set of records for these brothers Thomas & James Reddick; |
