  4. The following is from Paul S. Wharton. They married in Fayette County, Tennessee. Verified by the Fayette County, Tennessee marriage records. They were apparently on their way west and visiting Laura's uncle, William Decatur Thurman, who had settled there about 1850. By September 1872, Laura and Peter were living at Forrest City, Ar. Peter and Laura were among the first citizens of Jonesbsoro, and lived there until about 1880. Verified by a deed in Craighead County courthouse. Around that time theymoved about 3 miles east to the community of Prospect, where Peter operated a blacksmith shop.
