Norman and Mabel had three sons.

Norman left Ohio Steel and became an engineer at Minster, Ohio. He then became an executive vice president there.

They lived at St. Mary's, Ohio, in 1981 and in Hilton Head, South Carolina. In 1994, Norman lived in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Hilton Head, South Carolina.

Norman's obituary reads, "NORMAN L. DUNLAP, 79, died Tuesday at Lutheran Hospital. Born in Rushmore, Ohio, he was a consultant in the machine tool industry for Minster Machine from 1947 until 1981 and was also an engineer, sales manager and general manager. Surviving are his wife, Lue; three sons...; two stepsons...; a stepdaughter...; a brother, George of Fort Wayne; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Services at 10 a.m. Saturday at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home Winchester Road Chapel, 6424 Winchester Road. Calling from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. Burial in Oaklawn Cemetery, Ossian.
