Norbert was known as "Nubs."

Norbert and Velma had no children.

In 1949, they were living in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Nubs was a machine operator at Inca.

Velma was involved in a car accident, as reported in the area newspaper, "Cars Collide, New Haven Woman Hurt. A New Haven woman was listed as critical after a three-car accident at 8:30 p.m. yesterday on U. S. Highways 24-30, East, at Old Maumee Road. Velma Tustison, 1437 Dundee, New Haven, was admitted to Parkview Memorial Hospital after the mishap. She was driving off Old Maumee Road, attempting to go east on U. S. 24, when struck by a vehicle driven by Richard Malnord, 17, of 2815 Ridgeway Drive. Malnord was trailing a semi-truck which swerved to miss the Tustison auto and didn't have time to avoid the crash. He swerved slightly and involved a third auto, driven by Leonard Weitzel, 24, of Detroit. The Tustison car was hit at the left rear and turned completely around, throwing its driver to the pavement. Sgt. Lloyd Oswald of the sheriff's department--who investigated the accident, stated, "If the woman had been using a safety belt, she probably would have escaped serious injury." Neither Malnord nor Weitzel was injured." [Fort Wayne Journal Gazette, Saturday 16 May 1964, pg. 1B]

Velma's obituary ran the next day, "Woman Dies Of Injuries; Services Set. Funeral services will be held Tuesday for Mrs. Velma Tustison, 55, of New Haven, who died at 5:50 a.m. yesterday in Parkview Memorial Hospital of injuries received in a three-car collision Friday evening east of the city. She was thrown from her car to the pavement in the collision on U. S. 24-30 and the Old Maumee Road. Dr. E. N. Mendenhall, Allen County coroner, said death was caused by a fractured skull. Mrs. Tustison, of 1437 Dundee Road, was a former sales clerk for Fort Wayne clothing stores and for five years operated the Cottage Shop in New Haven. She is survived by her husband, Norbert; two sisters, Mrs. Leona Mulvey, New Haven, and Miss Lucille Gladieux, Oakland, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
