Family:Nicholas Norton and Elizabeth Unknown (2)

The surname of Nicholas's wife Elizabeth is uncertain. It has become accepted to assume she is Elizabeth Isaac, and the notations on Elizabeth Norton's will "Whereas by the last will and testament of Elizabeth Norton is mentioned as bequeathed to hester huxford an hous and land according to the will of Nicolas Norton left with his wife sd Elizabeth Isaac Norton"^{S1 p. 90} would seem to indicate as such. However, this may be a note by Nicholas' son Isaac Norton regarding "his wife sd Elizabeth." Without punctuation or an image of the original, it is difficult to tell how to read this citation.

   Nicholas Norton's will notes wife Elizabeth Norton (Court Records, Vol. 1, 1690). "His widow did not long survive to carry out the provisions of her husband's will. She died a few months after him, between June 8, the date of her will, and Oct 8, 1690, when it was proven in Court."
