Email from Sharon Snow Parrish (Indiana): I saw your info regarding Joseph Workman including James Workman on Gen Forum. I'm not a Workman descendant and I hope you'll not mind me e-mailing you, I didn't want to post this on the forum as it is in regard to the personal life of my late grandfather, but I thought it would do no harm to let you know about this. I didn't know my grandfather, Newton Stanton, he died in 1943, two years before my birth. But when I was doing some research on him a few years ago, I requested info from the Paulding Co. Gen. Society to see what they could find on him. One of the things they sent me was a marriage application for my grandfather Newton Stanton and Rosa E. Workman (who was not of age but her mother gave her consent) dated March 30, 1888. The only thing about it is THE RETURN WAS NOT FILLED OUT AND SIGNED BY THE PROBATE JUDGE, that is it didn't have any information to indicate that the marriage had been solemnized so apparently they were not actually married. We knew my grandfather had married a lady about 1890 in Paulding County, OH while he was in a travelling vaudeville act but we had no knowledge of this "almost" marriage to Rosa Workman, makes one wonder what happened though of course I'll probably never know. I think Rosa E. Workman that I just mentioned is probably the Rosa Ellen Workman (dau. of James) that you have shown as born in Paulding County, OH in 1872. This is just of human interest, nothing really important, but I thought you might find it interesting. By the way, my grandfather married the lady who would become my grandmother in 1897 and my late mother was born in Hardin County, OH. Thanks. Sharon Snow Parrish, Indiana
