Family:Nehemiah Leach and Mercy Staples (1)

Source:Mitchell, Nahum. History of the Early Settlement of Bridgewater, in Plymouth County, Massachusetts, p. 240, says Nehemiah's first wife was Mercy Staples, and Source:Chessman, Samuel. Leach Family Record, p. 9, says it was Mary Stapels. Both agree that there were two wives and attributing daughters Abigail b. 1730 and Mercy b. 1732 to the first wife. All children in Bridgewater VRs, whether by first or second wife, list the mother as Mercy. The second wife's age at death implied a birth in 1715, which probably makes her too young to be the mother of Abigail and Mercy anyway. --Jrich 17:16, 28 March 2010 (EDT)
