Joseph1 Barlow was born 10 October 1817, Virginia, & died 19 January 1897 Blandinsville, Illinois He married Sarah Robinson 10 November 1841 in Washington Co Virginia, daughter of Mitchell Robinson and Rachel Edmiston. She was born 01 August 1818 in Washington Co Virginia, and died. 01 April 1886 in Fountain Green, Hancock Co Illiniois, and was buried in Alton Cemetery, Hancock Co Illinois.

Several researchers believe that Joseph is the son of Joseph Barlow and Rachel Thomas. If anyone has proof of that, I would love to hear from you.

He was a member of the Kenneth L. Balanchard Post, American Legion of National City.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Katherine Mills -- born 1918 -- of National City; a sister and two grandchildren.

By Frances Chan "Ancestors of Edna Katherine and Pearl May Barlow" was written by Frances Chan, daughter of Pearl Barlow, and published in Australia in 1998. It was sold to numerous American libraries and individuals when Frances took a supply of the books from Australia to America in August of 1998. She left a few copies with Washington County Historical Society in Abingdon, Virginia for sale. The Society is located in the County Courthouse.
