In 1938, Louis lived at 2229 Eby Avenue in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was a machinist at International Harvester Company.

Olive's obituary reads, "Olive B. Gladieux, 77, of 1528 Tillman Road Died at 5:15 a.m. Friday in Lutheran Hospital following a brief illness. Mrs. Gladieux, who was born in Hessen Cassel, had worked for the Dudlow Co. and Phelps Dodge. Surviving are her husband, Louis H. Gladieux; three daughters, Doris J. Schultz and Germaine G. Fleckenstein, both of Fort Wayne, and Deloris H. Schnurr, Austin, Texas; two sons, Louis H. Gladieux, Jr., Spencerville, and Ivan J. Gladieux, Austin, Texas; one brother, Leo Sorg, Hessen Cassel; and two sisters, Alma Beckman, Hessen Cassel, and Bernadetta Kaade, Fort Wayne. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Tom Mungovan Funeral Home. Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday in the funeral home and at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Catholic Church. A rosary service will be at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery. Preferred memorials are gifts to a local cancer society." [Fort Wayne Journal Gazette, Saturday 16 December 1978, pg. 5B]

Louis' obituary reads, "LOUIS H. GLADIEUX, FORMER UAW LEADER. Louis H. Gladieux, 78, died at 11:30 p.m. Sunday in his home at 1528 Tillman Road. He was a native of Fort Wayne and lived here most of his life. Mr. Gladieux was formerly employed as a machinist for International Harvester Co., retiring in 1965 after 42 years service. He was a former vice-president of United Auto Workers Local 57. Surviving are two sons, Louis H. Gladieux, Jr., of Spencerville and Ivan J. of Austin, Texas; three daughters, Germaine B. Fleckenstein of Fort Wayne, Dolores G. Schnurr of Austin and Doris J. Schultz of Fort Wayne; three brothers, Clyde of New Haven and Nelson and Virgil, both of Toledo, Ohio, and two sisters, Ida Thorp of Angola and Alice Parnin of Fort Wayne. Services will be 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Tom Mungovan Funeral Home and 10 a.m. in St. Henry's Catholic Church. Friends may call from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home where a rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery." They are both buried in the Catholic Cemetery in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
