    Lemuel Allen Webster, b. 1819, a farmer and boatman, Wayne Co., Mich., m. in Dec. 1847, Sarah Elizabeth Aldrich, b. 1830, at Northville, Mich., dan. of Saviel and Sarah Elizabeth (Joy) Aldrich; and a sister of his brother, Chauncey Dutton Webster's wife.

    Lemuel Allen Webster owned and operated four canal boats on the Erie Canal, one of which was a packet, which he ran himself. His brothers, Chauncey Dutton, Jun., Harvey, Gorham, and Hartwell Carver Webster, were associated with him. He usually spent the winter on his boat where it overtook him, which in the fall of 1848, was Rochester, N. Y. On the 29th of December, 1848, his only child, Arthur Henry, was born on the boat in the aqueduct which spans the Genesee river.

    He died in the town of Greece, Monroe Co. 'N. Y., Dec. 23, 1850, aged 31 years. He is buried in the Old Cemetery at Pittsford, Monroe Co., N. Y. On his tombstone are these words : "In life beloved, in death lamented." His wife died in Northville, Wayne Co., Mich. Nov. 24, 1864. Children: (Only child) Arthur Henry, b. Rochester, N. Y., Dec. 29, 1848.
