"Joshua3 Hobart … apparently m (2) in England, to an unknown wife who died in New England, 9 Sept. 1669 'four days after' she and William returned."

  2. Note: this marriage is predicated upon a deed dated 1657 where Joshua signs for his deceased wife, selling some land belonging to William Vassall. It has also been proposed that the deed was prepared to be signed upon return, i.e., predated, but Margaret, dying 4 days after returning with William, was unable to sign it. As there is, otherwise, no known evidence of the death of Margaret prior to this, of the remarriage, or even of the identity of the proposed wife, this seems a plausible alternative. [Note: it appears New England Families errs in saying "she and William", meaning "she and Joshua"? That is what the old manuscripts it seems to be alluding to say. If Joshua did not return until 1659, it is not clear how he executed a deed dated 1657, further suggesting it was pre-dated, i.e., the date of the deed was not the date of signing.]
