Joseph Royall married (1) Thomasin, (2) by 1637, 7 Ann, and (3) about 1645, Katherine Banks, 8 who married (2) Capt. Henry Isham. 9 Her will, 10 Oct 1686, named her children and grandchildren by both marriages. 10

9. Henry Ishamm II, son of Capt. Henry Isham, in his will, 13 Nov 1678-1 Feb. 1678/9 (Henrico County Wills & Deeds 1677-92, p. 71; P.C.C.81 Bath, in Waters, Gleanings, I, p. 428) named brother Joseph Royall, mother Mrs. Katherine Isham, sisters Mrs. Mary Randolph and Anne Isham, to whom he bequeathed jointly his "plantation in Charles City County, commonly called "Doggams." The Royall lands in Henrico adjoined the Isham lands in Charles City.

Joseph, son of Joseph and Katherine(Banks) Royall deposed 20 Feb.1681/2 that he was aged 36 years or thereabouts.
11. His mother left him all her lands. With Capt. William Randolph and Francis Epes, the husbands of his half sisters, he was joint patentee, 20 April 1680, of 580 acres known as "Martin's Swamp," lying in Bermuda Hundred Neck on the south side of James River and adjoining lands of the three grantees.
12. He served as justice and sheriff of Henrico, as captain of militia, and as vestryman of Curles Church in Bristol Parish.
13. He owned 783 acres in Henrico and 260 acres in Charles City County,1704.


14. He married Mary ______, widow of George Archer (died 1676) whose daughter Margery (Archer) Bullington in her will, 20 Jan. 1691/2
