Joseph Parker, b 1762 Salem, Rockingham, NH, d 1835 Plessis, Jefferson Co, NY was likely named in honor of his 4 generations of ancestors all named Joseph. He was a veteran of American Rev War (who served 1781 in Capt Peter Page's Company and was present at surrender of Gen Cornwallis at Yorktown. From 1781-1784 he was in "French Legion of Horse" as part of Vermont Militia. He moved to Middletown, Rutland, VT where in 1789 he married in Alstead, Cheshire Co., N.H., Judith Watts, b 1769 in Pelham NH, who bore him children: Asa, Moses, Samuel, Polly and Jonathan, but she died in Shrewsbury, VT about 1802. Joseph Parker then married in Middletown VT her sister Lydia Watts, b 1773, d. 1843 Plessis NY. Joseph Parker about 1830 moved w/ 2nd wife Lydia, and her children Pervilla (b 1803), Sarah, Harvey D. (b 1809), Derrinda, and Alpheus to Plessis/Alexandria, Jeff Co, NY. Both Joseph and Lydia Parker are buried at Brookside Cemetery in Plessis NY (findagrave # 1186712 and #11868737). |
