Joseph Lee married his second wife, Rebecca Lewis, in Haddam, on 24 June 1730. This erroneous date of his first marriage was included in an 1899 article by Ralph Smyth of Guilford, Descendants of Edward and John Lee of Guilford, Conn. and perpetuated in Talcott's Families of Early Guilford. Two of Joseph Lee's children had to have been born well before 1730 based on the dates of their marriages (Joseph, 1736; Elizabeth, 1744).
