By all appearances this was simply copied from Source:Northrup, Ansel Judd. Northrup-Northrop Genealogy, p. 22, which likewise mentions it giving zero details, except to call him "Joseph Cooley of Ridgefield". No mention of Joseph Cooley is found in the Ridgefield records nor in Rockwell's History of Ridgefield. Joseph Cooley of Somers, CT, b. 1741, m. Jerusha Bissell, and d. 1775. Is the name spelled right? The father d. 1814. Was Joseph Cooley mentioned in the probate, perhaps her 2nd or 3rd husband, at that time? How is this known, when no records seem to exist?
