The identification of the wife of Joseph Clixby as Ann Hooley (as opposed to Ann Dawson, also on same page of civil registration index as Joseph's marriage) comes from the presence of John R Spencer and his wife Maria in the household of Joseph and Ann Hooley in 1871. Maria is identified as "sister" - in this case, the sister of Ann Clixby. John R Spencer's wife's maiden name, as can be seen from their marriage record, was Maria Hooley, and her father (and thus Ann's father) was William.
