"9. Jonathan3 House … married Elizabeth [probably Smith, see below], … While no certain proof has been found of the identity of his wife, it is believed that she was Elizabeth5 Smith, born 25 Jan. 1729/30, daughter of Joseph4 and Sarah (Colefax) Smith, and granddaughter of Joseph3 and Sarah (House) Smith. Her age at death corresponds. Jonathan House is shown by the deeds to have lived next door to the Smith family. Elizabeth Smith's father witnessed one of Jonathan's first deeds and late in life Jonathan bought land from her brother Elijah. When Joseph Smith was administrator of William Hollister's estate in 1763, Jonathan House went surety on his bond. Many small indications of this nature are suggestive but not conclusive."
