  2. Source:Kennedy, Mabel Stockwell. Stockwell Genealogy, p. 64, lists a son Ichabod in this marriage, bp. 2 Aug 1752, which is the same day daughter Ruth was baptized. The Sutton VRs do not list any such son, and based on the "[Jr. in C.R.]" notation in Ruth's birth record, they inspected the church records, so should have at least listed the baptism if it existed. No son Ichabod is named in the father's probate, even this source showing a guardian being appointed for Noah and Ruth but no mention of a guardian being appointed for Ichabod, and no death record for Ichabod is found in VRs. Even the Stockwell Genealogy gives no information other than this baptism, and does not include Ichabod's baptism in its own transcription of church records on p. 21! (It does show a baptism for Ichabod son of Ichabod, but on 9 Apr 1749.) If John had a son Ichabod, it is possible he was born earlier in the marriage than Ruth, or even was the last child of the previous wife, but without inspecting the literal church record, all signs suggest this is an error by the author. Source:Benedict, William Addison. History of the Town of Sutton, Massachusetts, from 1704 to 1876, p. 730, is even more confused, showing the Ichabod who married Experience Gleason (actually John's brother) as a son of John2 instead of his actual father John1, which is impossible since the marriage occurred in 1747/48, requiring a birth about 1726 or earlier.
