NOTE: John Reynolds and Sarah Chesterfield had TWO different sons, Jonathan Reynolds (that married Rebecca Husted) and John Reynolds (that married 1st, Naomi Lattimer and 2nd, Judith Palmer) that have been confused (and combined) by some researchers.

1. Biographical notes:

Born about 1638/9 at (probably) Wethersfield, Connecticut. Died between 8 November and 17 December 1701 at Fairfield, Connecticut.

2. Wife: Judith “Judah” Palmer

Born about 1648. Died 1702. Daughter of Henry and Judith (?) Palmer. Married John Reynolds about 1668 at Greenwich Connecticut.

Judith’s mother married (2nd) Jeffrey Ferris (d. 1666). She married (3rd) John Bowers about 1667. After Judith (?)(Palmer)(Ferris) Bowers died, John Bowers married Hannah (?) Knapp, widow of Joshua Knapp, whose daughter, Ruth Knapp, married Deacon John Reynolds (son of Jonathan Reynolds) and whose son, Joshua Knapp, Jr., married Elizabeth Reynolds on 16 March 1687. So, John Bowers had three step children who married into the Reynolds family.

3. Children:

a. John Reynolds, III: (31) Born about 1670. Died 1732. Was employed as a cooper.

b. Judith Reynolds: (32) Born about 1672. Died after 1734. Married Samuel Betts of Norwalk, Connecticut on 10 December 1692.

c. James Reynolds: (33) Born 1674. Died 14 February 1767. Married Sarah Holmes in 1697.

d. Mary Reynolds: (34) Born about 1679. Married Peter Palmer.

e. Jonathan Reynolds: (35) Born about 1682. Died 1709. Married Mary Mead.

g. Lieutenant David Reynolds: (37) Born about 1687. Died in the fall of 1750. Married (1st) Penelope Wright. Married (2nd) (perhaps) Mary (Mead) Reynolds, widow of his older brother, Jonathan Reynolds.
