- Whereas John Price (son of Reece Price and his Deceased wife Elizabeth) of Merien in the County of Philadelphia in the province of Pennsylvania & Mary Davis (Daughter of John Davis Deceased and Rebekah his wife) of Darby in the County of Chester and Province Aforesaid Having Declared their Intentions of Marriage with Each Other Before Several Monthly Meetings of the people Called Quakers at Darby Aforesaid According to the Good Order Used Amongst them and Having the Approbation of Parents & Relations Concerned their said Proposals of marriage was Allowed of by the said Meeting, Now these are to Certify whom it may Concern that for the fall Accomplishing of their said Intentions this fifteenth Day of the Eleventh month in the Year of our Lord one Thousand Seven hundred and fifty two they the said John Price and Mary Davis appeared in a publick meeting of this sd. people at Darby Aforesaid and the Said john Price takeing the said Mary Davis by the hand did in a Solemn Manner Openly Declare that he took her the Said ~ Mary Davis to be his wife promising with the Lord's Assistance to be Unto here a Loving and faithfull Husband Untill Death Should Seperate them; and then and there in the said Assembly the said Mary Davis did in Like manner Openly Declare that she took the said John Price to be her Husband promising with the Lords Assistance to be Unto him a Loving and faithfull wife untill Death (she According to the Custom of Marriage Assuming the name of her Husband), as a further confirmation thereof did then and there to be presents Set their Hands.
