    February 1832
John McAlpine, shipmaster, son of the late Duncan McAlpine, shoemaker, Rothesay, and Margaret McKinlay, daughter of the John McKinlay, seaman, Rothesay, both in this parish, booked 20th and married 23rd

The expression "booked" is unusual in marriage registrations. It is presumed to mean the date the intention to marry was advised to the minister (and logged in the register). Banns would have been read on three Sundays prior to the wedding, so the words are not synonomous.

The death of John McKinlay, father of the bride, has not been found. The word "late" could have been omitted from the registration, or something else may have been intended here.
