    "John Harrison Jackson, III (1854-1929) is a well known farmer of Dearborn Co., IN. and is a native of this county. He was born May 15, 1854; his parents being Reuben Christophy (1810-1887) and Isabelle Langdale Jackson (abt 1816-1883), both old and honored residents of this county. The paternal great-grandfather, John Harrison Jackson, Sr. (1746-1814) came to IN during the territorial days, cleared a farm and lived here all his subsequent life. He met his death by drowning in Tanner’s Creek after a bad storm and high water. John H., who bears his grandfather’s name is the tenth of a family of thirteen children born to his parents. He received a common school education and after leaving school, married and took charge of the home farm, which he now owns. It is a farm of 200 acres of fine land and he carries on a successful business as a general farmer. His mother whose maiden name was Isabelle Langdale, was a native of England, but came with her parents to the USA. in 1828 when she was 12 years old. Mr. Jackson is a solid Republican though not altogether a politician. He is a member of the Bright Woodman Lodge. He was married in 1878 to Miss Mary Ellen Smith (1855-1902), a daughter of Jacob and Ann Smith of Guilford, Dearborn Co,, IN where her father is a successful farmer. They were married by Rev. Benjamin Plummer on December 18, 1878. To Mr. & Mrs. Jackson, there were born two children, Clyde A. (1879-1941) and Floyd S. (1881-1958). It was a blessed home where harmony reigned supreme. Both children are well educated and both live at home, though Clyde is married. His wife keeps house for the family since the death of Mrs. Jackson which occurred on August 29, 1902. Mr. Jackson is a man who enjoys the respect and esteem of his neighbors and has the confidence of all who know him as a man of unimpeachable integrity. Later in life, John Jackson was Trustee of Miller Township for six years. Reuben Christophy Jackson (1810-1887), father to John H., lived with them for 9 years when he died and was buried with his wife and family on Georgtown Ridge, Dearborn Co., IN.:
