    John V. A. Hoes, from Kinderhook, N. Y., in 1836, a lawyer by profession, practiced at the bar for several years, but has devoted his time mostly to financial affairs and real estate ; he was Judge of Probate from October, 1837, to August, 1843.

    He married Fanny Reynolds, of McHenry County. His children are:
    - Ella A., widow of M. B. Peak, of Green Bay, and
    - Edward, now banking in Lake City, Colorado.
