According to the Cole Genealogy, "Savage in his Plymouth Records gives the children of John Cole, son of Hugh, and states 'he lived in Plympton.' This is an error. The John he speaks of was the son of James 1; they were both b. 1660."

The will of John Cole dated 22 Sep 1742 begins with "I, John Cole, son of Hugh" and mentions wife Sarah, daughter Susanna Rounds daughter Mary Luther, daughter Hannah Hammond, and son John. His children were incorrectly shown for John Cole (s/o James, s/o James).
