Facts and Events
Marriage[1] 21 Aug 1720 Lincoln, Lincolnshire, Englandin the parish of St. Margaret in the Close
“John Baldaw and Alice Atkinson”, both from the parish of St. Swithin, were married.
Baptism records from the register of St. Swithin parish show that a John “Burleigh” was married to an Alice by 1729, and possibly by 1721 (as the earlier records did not give the mother's name). It is probable that this John was the John “Baldaw” who married an Alice Atkinson in 1720, in St. Margaret in the Close parish. Since no other reference to a “Baldaw” can be found in Lincolnshire, it was probably a mistake. Also note that the first appearance of Preston as a given name in the Burley families of Lincolnshire was the child of John and Alice, and Preston was the maiden name of Alice Atkinson's mother and the given name of her brother.
