Identity of Wife

The wife of John Black, Sr., is not named in the published probate record. Torrey (TAG 17:136) suggests that it may have been Susanna, who with a John Black, joined the the church in Charlestown, Mass., on Jan. 4, 1634/5. Anderson (GM Begins 1:175-177) states that this John & Susanna Black in Charlestown are a "non-existent" family, citing the "Phantom File."
