Johannes Storm was a soldier in the Sundals regiment stationed in Gestad. He left Sweden without permission to take his daughter, Wilhelmina to the US for marriage. She was the mail order bride of Thore Johnson after his first wife Dorothea died leaving 6 kids. The parents, with Wilhelmina, Augusta, Justina arrived in 1879. Thore accepted the bride, even though her vision was severely limited and she wore coke-bottle glasses. Johannes was afraid he would reject her. He also had no one to escort her on the voyage. The family stayed in Barron Co, Wisconsin, and Johannes/Sofia homesteaded a farm in Maple Grove. Eventually daughter Anna Kajsa and family joined them there. Johannes died 8 Jun 1896 and Sofia died 12 Mar 1899. Both are buried in Nye Scandinavian Cemetary in what is now Prairie Lake Township, Barron Co. Wisconsin.
