Jesse settled in the Mulberry Valley (present day Pleasant Hill,Crawford County, Arkansas) of Arkansas before the Indians were drivenout. He organized the first Sunday School in Pleasant Hill and wasthere in 1818. In 1818 all whites were drive out of the valley exceptJesse and Judge Saunders who were allowed to remain because they wereblacksmiths. In 1833 son-in0-law Capt.
