    James Ward (1739-1774) commanded a company of Botetourt County militia at Point Pleasant, 1774, under Gen. Andrew Lewis. He was born in Prince Edward County; died in Buckingham County, Va. [Note: other sources have him dying at Point Pleasant in what is now Mason County, West Virginia].
