  2. New Braintree VRs have a death record of an unnamed child of James on 26 Dec 1790. Daniel Foster Holmes m. sometime in 1800, and Nancy Holmes may be the one whose marriage is in 1799. All other known children born before 1790 have known death dates that do not match. The births show a regular progression from the marriage until 1790 with no more than 2 years between any pair. James' son Joseph was born in Oct 1790 so no child could have been born between him and this death date, and there is no indication he was a twin, and his short life was long enough to be named. So this cannot readily be explained. Possibly this death was misrecorded, either being Joseph's death (otherwise recorded in Nov 1790, which unlike this date, is also found on a gravestone), or misidentifying the father (a William Holmes was having children in New Braintree about this time)?
