Source for children of James and Susan Hedden: John Emmet Todd, 1896. Since he lists eight children born between 1840 and 1843, it would seem that perhaps there were multiple births and that the twins or triplets did not survive infancy. Another, perhaps more likely, possibility is that the first six or seven children belonged to James by a previous marriage.
