There were two additional pregancies. One was a miscarriage and the last was a stillborn in 1900. Catherine "Katie", the mother of these children, contracted tuberculosis and died in 1901. Between the pregnancies, a prior severe illness and losing her last child, she was in a weakened state, both emotionally and physically. She was taken to the Spokane Co. area for tuberculosis care, but it failed. She died Oct. 24, 1901 and was buried at Spangle Cemetery, Spangle, Washington. In 1937, her daughter had her body exhumed and reinterred at Dayton Cemetery, Dayton, Washington.
