License to wed was granted November 6, 1947 and the wedding took place November 8, 1947 at the Bethany Lutheran church in Seattle, Washington. John W. White, Howard's brother was one of the witnesses.

According to the Seattle Daily Times (Seattle, WA), of March 28, 1950, Merridy filed for divorce from Howard F. White for reason of cruelty. The same paper on March 12 1951 reported that Merridy and Norman H. Zenk intended to marry.

Earlier in 1947, the January 23rd issue of the Seattle Daily Times reported that Merridy filed for divorce from her first husband, George E. Maw, for reason of cruelty.
