News Item EAST JORDAN COUPLE OBSERVE 63RD

    Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Sweet of East Jordan were honored guests at a party given by their children at the Bootlegger's in Petoskey, commemorating their 63rd wedding anniversary.
  Herbert Sweet and Belle Murphy were married June 12, 1918.  They have made their home in the East Jordan area since that time.
  Their five children and spouses were present at the surprise dinner for the Sweets, as well as many of their grandchildren.
   An anniversary cake, specially made by John McClellan, was served following the dinner.
  Mr. Sweet worked for the City of East Jordan for a number of years and Mrs. Sweet also worked part time at the canning factory in East Jordan.
  Their children and spouse are:  Lawrence and Harriet Sweet of East Jordan;  Stanley and Verna Sweet of East Jordan;  Basil and Virgina Sweet of Petoskey;  Versil and Betty Sweet of Grand Haven, Kathleen (Sweet) Peck and her husband Floyd of Boyne City.  Mr. and Mrs. Sweet also have seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
