[Note: Internet family trees are not considered reliable sources, and this particular tree offers no sources or explanation to support this estimated marriage date of Jan 1815 in Vermont. Source:Leland, Sherman. Leland Magazine, or, A Genealogical Record of Henry Leland and His Descendants, p. 145, and lists several children but the data does not align particular well with the actual records. For example, Mary B, supposedly b. 1822, d. 1836 aged 11, which conflicts with William's birth. Find A Grave has no gravestone image, meaning it was probably copied from the VRs, so is no help in resolving this issue (i.e., are parents named on the stone, is it shared with others, was it misread).

However in 1830 in Kellyvale (now Lowell), Vermont Henry Smith shows 1 son 5-10, on daughter under 5 and another 5-10. No children born before 1820. In 1840, in Lowell, MA, Henry Smith shows 1 son under 5, 1 son 15-20, and a bunch of females (3 10-15, 10 15-20, 19 20-30, 2 30-40, 1 40-50 1 50-60). The apparent presence of multiple families makes it difficult to do any analysis of how many children were Henry'. According to the Leland source (which appears to have included all the deaths in Lowell VRs of children with no parents named, in Henry's family(, all of Henry's daughters had died by 1840 and he had a 2 year old son (George) who soon died, plus William age 15-16, the only one for which records can be produced to show that he is Henry's].
