- ↑ Torrey names Katherine as "Catherine (Hutchinson) Bartholomew", m. (2) Richard "Janverin/Chamberlain. The maiden name of Hutchinson appears to be based on a mention of brother Elisha Hutchinson, but this is probably a religious title, as is the mention of sister Dudson which is Abigail (Button) Dudson and clearly not a sister.
The probate of Henry Bartholowmew shows an account by "Kathrine Bartholmew alis Chamberline", signing her name as "Katherine Chamering" and the judge allowing the account of "Mrs Katharine Bartholmew alias Chamberlin". There is a marriage record in Salem of Capt. Richard Janverin to Mrs Catherine Bartholomew on 30 Oct 1699. No other record mention Richard Janverin is found. It seems probably, as unlikely as it seems, that Janverin is a misreading of Chamberlin, perhaps written as Chamerin.
More research is needed.
