  3. Source:Roebling, Emily Warren. Richard Warren of the Mayflower and Some of His Descendants, p. 25, names the husband as "Gershom Cobb" with a marriage date of 12 Mar 1761 instead of 12 Nov 1761. There is no marriage in Middleborough of Mehitable Warren or Gershom Cobb on 12 Mar 1761. Further, while Gershom Cobb is having children by wife Elizabeth (Corbett), Gideon Cobb is having children by Mehitable. Source:Tupper, Franklin Whittlesey. Thomas Tupper and His Descendants (11970), p. 22 gives the husband as "Gersham Cobb" but has no date. In neither case is Gershom identified by parents, birth date or any explanation beyond being listed as the husband of Mehitable.

This confusion may be caused by the lack of a birth record in Middleborough for Gideon Cobb, but Source:Soule, John E. George Soule of the Mayflower, p. 70, identifies him as the son of John Cobb and 2nd wife Mary Conant, b. abt. 1738.
