Geraldus Buntyn is found in records as "Geraldus", "John" and "Joseph" Buntyn. His name is written as "Geraldus" in a Bible believed to have been owned by his widow, Elcy Everett Buntyn.

According to Elcy's Bible record, Geraldus was born 01 September 1765, location possibly in Scotland. Elcy was born 05 July 1773, location unknown.

Geraldus and Elcy probably married about 1790, possibly in Martin or Pitt Counties, North Carolina. No record of their marriage has been located.

On the 1790 census of Pitt County, North Carolina, "John Buntin", a male over age 16, was enumerated with one female in his household. This may be Geraldus and Elcy.

First child, Geraldus, was born 24 August 1791 in North Carolina.

On 29 September 1792, "John Buntin" of Pitt County sold to his son "Garldess Buntin", a piece of land described as originally given to "Elsey Avrett" by her aunt "Elizabeth Oldshe". "James Averitt" received the payment on behalf of his grandson "Garaldress Buntin".

On 01 October 1792, "John Buntin" of Pitt County sold to "James Averet" of Martin County, several household items and livestock.

On the 1800 census of Edgecombe County, North Carolina, "John Bunten", a male aged 26-45, was enumerated with one female over age 45, and two males under age 10. (This may be Geraldus, but another Buntyn family, as yet unconnected, resided in Edgecombe County during this time.)

Second child, Benjamin, was born 04 February 1801 in North Carolina.

Third child, Amy S., was born 09 December 1803, location unknown.

At some time between 1801 and 1806, the family migrated to South Carolina.

Fourth child, James Everett, was born 26 January 1806, in Abbeville County, South Carolina.

Fifth child, Joseph Everett, was born 12 February 1809, possibly in South Carolina.

Sixth child, Sally Everett J., was born 12 January 1811, location unknown.

In 1816, Elcy appeared as a witness to a will probate in Abbeville County, South Carolina. (this is undocumented as yet)

According to Elcy's Bible record, Geraldus died 06 April 1826, location unknown.

Around January 1830, Elcy moved her family to Pike County, Georgia, joining her sister and brother-in-law, Eleanor and Enoch Matthews.

On the 1830 census of Pike County, Georgia, "Elcey Buntyn", a female aged 50-60, was enumerated with one male aged 20-30, and one female aged 20-30 (possibly Joseph and Amy).

In 1840, Elcy lost her land to seizure by the Pike County sheriff.

On the 1840 census of Pike County, Georgia, "Elsey Buntin", a female aged 40-50, was enumerated with one female aged 15-20.

Elcy died 09 August 1848, possibly in Pike County, Georgia.
