The Carter family includes Lucy G, 25, Georgeanna, 6, Frances M, 4 and Charles F, 2. The Harrison family includes Mary J, 28 and Reuben, age 5. [Reuben is actually Mary Harrison's son from her first marriage; he is Reuben Bradford]. Also in the household are Clarissa Sheppard, 38. All are noted as "mulatto" by the census taker, and are born in Maine. Georgeanna Carter attends school.

His household includes Mary J Harrison, 37 [his wife], and Reuben F Bradford, 15, who is attending school [George Harrison's stepson]. George and Mary Harrison as noted as "mulatto" by the census taker. Reuben Bradford is noted as white. All are born in Maine.

1880 Census

George W Harrison, 49, lives on Middle Street in Bath, Sagadahoc, Maine (Ward 3/4). He runs an "eating saloon." He was born in Maine; his father was born in Maryland and his mother in Maine. His wife, Mary J Harrison, is 45; she and her parents were born in Maine. Other members of the household are:

Reuben S Bradford, 24, George Harrison's stepson and an assistant in the "eating saloon." Reuben was born in Maine; his father was born in Massachusetts and his mother in Maine.
Emma S Griffin, 13, adopted daughter, attending school. She was born in Maine; her father was born in Maine and her mother in Canada. All four are noted as "mulatto" by the census taker.

1900 Census

George W Harrison, 71 (born Apr 1829) is a cook. He owns his home at 46 Winter St, Ward 4, Bath, Sagadahoc, Maine, free and clear, and has been married for 46 years to Mary J Harrison, 58 (born Aug 1841). George Harrison was born in Maine; his father was born in Maryland and his mother in Maine. Mary J Harrison has had one child; she and her parents were born in Maine. Mary's son, Reuben F Bradford (George Harrison's stepson), whose age is written as 55, but who should be 44 or 45 this year, and who was born in Apr 1845 [should be Apr 1855], lives with them. Reuben is divorced. He is a cook and was unemployed for four months. All three are noted as "black" by the census taker. Fred C Taft, born Oct 1875 (age 24) and white, is a boarder in the household.

1910 Census

George W Harrison, 80, lives at 46 Winter Street. He is retired, and owns his home, which is mortgaged. He was born in Maine; his father was born in Maryland and his mother was born in Maine. His wife Mary J Harrison is said to be 83 years old; she and her parents were born in Maine. This marriage is his first and her second marriage. They have been married for 38 years. Mary J Harrison had one child, who is no longer living.
