Judge Bacon had given his consent, even chiding that his daughter about keeping Custer waiting. Custer had long been patient and now was being rewarded for it. Though a spring wedding had been planned, they soon decided on an earlier date. On February 9, 1864, they took their vows at the Presbyterian Church in Monroe. A short honeymoon to Cleveland, Buffalo and West Point, and then back to his brigade headquarters at Stevensburg. References
