Frank P. Muirheid, the subject of this sketch, was born in Decatur county, Illinois, March 9th 1853, and died at the home of his son-in-law, George Cox, near Bethany, Mo., December 16, 1921, age 68 years, 9 months and 7 days.

When he was three years old he moved with his parents from Illinois to Worth county, Missouri, where he met the girl that was to be the companion of his life. She passed triumphantly to her reward at Hominy, Okla., some years ago. She left her mantle for her children and left a dying request that her children meet her in the mansions up yonder. Surely this will be heeded.

Brother Muirheid was converted and united with the Harmony Baptist church when a young man, and lived a consistent follower of the lowly Nazerine. He was ordained a deacon some 35 years ago. He was set apart to the full work of the gospel ministry in Oklahoma in 1905 and had done missionary work and held some pastorates in north Missouri.

A few months ago he was stricken under an affliction which soon brought him to realize that death would soon claim his frail body. We visited him just a few days before he passed away and he asked us to preach his funeral and also suggested the text and the reading of the 14th chapter of John as a scripture lesson. He also requested that song entitled "The Eastern Gate" be sung, which was rendered in a very appropriate manner by Mrs. Belle Taggart. About the last words he spoke was as he gazed out of the window and seemed to be far away. He exclaimed "Oh, see those bright, shining objects! Don't you see that beautiful gate?" Thus he died with a smile on his face, leaving a testimony to his loved ones that is far better than gold or silver. By his own request his funeral was held in the Christian Union church at Blue Ridge and the body rests in old Blue Ridge cemetery. Brother Butterfield kindly assisted the pastor in the funeral. He leaves to mourn their loss, C.T. Muirheid, O. H. Muirheid, Guy Muirheid, Altha Fields, Nannie Twidell and Mrs. Artie Cox ,eighteen grandchildren and one brother Hank Muirheid who was named for the mother who was a full cousin to Nancy Hanks, Abraham Lincoln's mother. He has one sister, Mrs. Julia Morrison, of Colorado, and a host of friends.
