By the 1930 census, eight years after the death of Ida, Francis was head of an owned farm household that included sons, grand-sons, grand-daughters and a daughter-in-law. Sons Owen and Forrest were part of the household, as were grand-son Elwyn, grand-daughters Marjorie and Leota, and daughter-in-law Blanche. Everybody in the household had been born in Indiana, with both parents born in Indiana as well. Forrest was still single at this point, but Owen and Blanche were likely a married couple, who were parents to Elwyn, Marjorie (who was in school) and Leota, all of whome were 6 years old and under. At this point, Forrest was an un-employed automobile salesman and the only family member who was a veteran. Owen and father Francis worked the farm.

The couple share a headstone in Place:Bremen Municipal Cemetery, Bremen, Marshall, Indiana, United States.
