Ephraim Sawyer, of Lancaster, and Sarah Richardson, of Woburn, Nov. 23, 1750.
- It is unclear if Sarah Richardson was her maiden name, or if she was a widow. On p. 190, Source:Vinton, John Adams. Richardson Memorial says that Mary (Perrin) Richardson died in the family of her daughter Mrs. Sarah Sawyer, "I suppose", wife of Ephraim Sawyer. But then he contradicts himself by showing her daughter Sarah (#1608) marrying James Kendall (per the VRs in 1735 having a son, then both mother and son died in 1736) James Kendall m. (2) Sarah's sister Lydia Richardson (#1610). So if this was her daughter she sure could not have been the woman that married Ephraim Sawyer, and if she married Ephraim Sawyer, he is wrong about the first marriage of James Kendall.
A widow Sarah Sawyer of Sterling left a will in 1794, Worcester Probate 52572. She leaves legacies for several people, but their relationship is not clear. 5 are children of James Kendall (son of the above James Kendall) & Elizabeth Mason, 2 are children of Jabez Richardson (#1609 in Richardson Memorial, brother of Sarah & Lydia Richardson) & Mehitable ---, then Betty Kendall and Pamela Wright (possibly grand-daughter of Jabez Richardson by his daughter Lydia's first marriage to Abel Wright?).
The simplest answer, but with no specific evidence to support it, is that it was the daughter of Pierson and Mary Richardson who married Ephraim Sawyer as her only marriage, that James Kendall's first wife was a different Sarah Richardson, but the connection to his family is through his second wife Lydia Richardson, Sarah's sister. More research would be needed.
