    In his Civil War Pension Application, Ephraim claimed he and Susie Hunter married July 1866, and she died from measles about six months thereafter, at Reading, Michigan. These specific statements are not supported by primary sources. It would seem Ephraim's memory failed him regarding the events which had occurred 40 years earlier.
