Emanuel married Anna Johanna about a year after Gustaf, his brother and Anna's first husband was killed by one of his oxen. My grandfather, Gustaf Victor Theodor Almquist was only a year old when they married. Emanuel immigrated in 1869 and was Naturalized in 1876. Anna came to America in 1880 with her first husband Gustaf and their two small daughters Alma Sofia and Potencia Suafer. She was Naturalized in 1898 which was not the custom for women since they could just be a citizen through their husbands. Anna owned a good amount of land in Polk County Wisconsin.

Clara Almquist is preferred.

Their parents also. States that Anna had 9 children but only 2 were living (which does not make sense since 5 children were listed here). Makes me wonder if these were all her children. Emanual was married 6 years and Anna listed 17 but it was crossed out to 6 years. Perhaps that is how long she had been married to Emanual and his brother Gustaf (her previous husband), who died, combined. Emanual immigrated 1869. # of years in US lists 81-impossible. Na
He is a farmer she is a housewife, John was a laborer. All could read and write English except Clara. All could speak English except Clara and Anna.

    E. Almquist with 5 males 2 females. For the Almquist family I would guess the males would be Emanuel, John, Carl, Axell & G. Victor. Females are Tessie and Anna. It states 4 born in the US-that would be John, Carl, Axell and G. Victor.
