*Among the papers of James Starr Lippincott, of Philadelphia, I find a list of the descendants of Caleb Starr, written in pencil, not very distinct, with few dates and no definite residences. Caleb settled in 1835 near Evansville, Indian Territory, where he died in 1844, aged 86 years. He married Nancy Harlan, who died in 1 841, aged 81 years. They had 15 children.
"It was one of the Harlans who married a Cherokee Indian chiefs daughter. Caleb Starr married the daughter of his relative, whoever he was. I cannot tell whether Caleb was John Starr's son or not. but I am led to the belief that he was. Caleb's mother was Mary Bryant, of Philadelphia. I do not think that Nancy Harlan could have been so old." — Cope, 1890.
* New Garden Monthly Meeting, 10, 6, 1764: "London Grove preparative meeting, complains of Ellis Harlan for drinking to excess and quarreling, and while under dealing by that meeting hath gone as is apprehended to Carolina."
