[Note: [intention found online, p. 309: "April 7: 1773 Elijah Simonds to Sarah Roff". Wife's name was Abigail based on births of children. Brackets appear to add editor's comments. So Sarah is shown to be an error. An Intention in April is not inconsistent with a marriage in August, we have to presume based on the way this is presented, that the record says August, and the editor was just wondering. As has been pointed out several places, the interchange of May and Aug is surprisingly common in colonial transcriptions (same shape), but the original record has not been found online, so nothing can be said about these various speculations.]
