It has been assumed that Edward married Martha in New Jersey but so far, there is no documentation of that. It has also been asserted on the internet that Martha was from Augusta, Virginia and so perhaps they married in Virginia. Documentation of this marriage needs to be located in order to confirm or refute Martha's relationship to a John Miller in Augusta.
The 1763 marriage date is an estimate based on the birth date given on the tombstone of their first child, Stephen, and on Martha's estimated birth year.
One wonders why Edward would have ventured into Virginia to find a bride?
