Dwight is the father of my brother in law... Merritt. I did not knowDwight extremely well.... but I had the privilege of spending time withhim on several occasions and found him to be very friendly with a quicksense of humor! Merritt describes him as a "pot stirrer" as he oftenenjoyed stirring up trouble for a good laugh or two. Dwight was thefather of 6 children.... five girls, Carol, Erin, Linda, Karlen, Meganand one boy... Merritt. He was married to his beautiful wife Barbarafor 50 plus years.
Dwight served in WWII, the Korean War and Vietnam. He began hismilitary career in the Army and continued to serve throughout his lifein the Army Air care, Coastguard Reserve and the Air force. He retiredfrom the military as a Lieutenant Colonel. Dwight received hiseducation from the University of Dubuque and after retiring from the Airforce began teaching 8th grade science. He retired from his teachingcareer in 1988.
Dwight was an avid golfer and won several tournaments at his localcountry club. He also thoroughly enjoyed hunting and hunted foranything from wild boars to deer. Dwight was an exceptional footballplayer in college and was a letter winner. His brother Richard was alsoa very talented football player and was sought after from the ChicagoBears. Richard also served in the military and was MIA for many yearsuntil he was assumed passed and gone.
Dwight served as a Deacon at the Presbyterian Church and was also a 32ndDegree Mason.
Dwight's health deteriorated for quite some time before he passed awayin 2003. He is very much loved and missed by his family. Dwight leftbehind is wife Barbara and his four living children.... Linda,Carol,Megan, Merritt and Erin.
