Daniel Wade

Danile H. Wade was born on April 13, 1841 in Coffee County, Alabama. Daniel died January 9, 1929. Daniel is buried in Wayfare Cemetery, Mayo, Lafayette County, Florida. A memorial page for him with a photo of his marker is located on the Find a Grave website.

Mary Jane Lewis

Mary Jane Lewis was born in January 1845 in Georgia. On July 18, in the 1860 US Census, 15 year old Mary Jane Lewis is enumerated as a domestic in the home (#44) of Martha Nixon, age 88. With Mary Jane are five Lewis siblings: James 13, John H 11, Samuel 9, Josephus 6 and Thomas J 3. Next door (#43) is 47 year old Robert W. Nixon which would seem to be Martha's son and his family and on the other side of Robert is a single young 22 year old mother (#42), Eliza J Pippin, her two babies and two more Lewis female children, Francis M 17 and Arnetta 8. Francis is described as "Deformed has no arms or legs." This would indicate some tragic event between late 1857 and early 1860 in which one remaining or both Lewis parents died. This could also be a clue as to the the Lewis children's mother being a Nixon and perhaps this Martha Nixon actually being their grandmother. Mary Jane died October 3, 1926. She is buried in Wayfare Cemetery, Mayo, Lafayette County, Florida. A memorial page for her with a photo of her marker is located on the Find a Grave website.

Daniel Wade and Mary Jane Lewis Marriage

Daniel Wade married Mary Jane Lewis in February 1865. Daniel served in the Confederate army under Robert E. Lee so it is not know if this was during or after his military service. On August 10, 1870, Daniel is enumerated in the 1870 US Census of Taylor County, Florida with Mary, Henry, Jimmie and Baby. Baby is thought to be Martin. On June 28 or 29, 1880, Daniel is enumerated in the 1870 US Census of Taylor County, Florida with Mary Jane, Henry B., James D., Martin V.B., George W., Josephus Z.,Mary J., and T____? Thomas. On May 23, 1910, Daniel is enumerated in the 1910 US Census of Lafayette County, Florida with wife Mary and son Martin. two houses away, Their son Thomas T Wade and hs family are enumerated.

Henry Benjamin Wade was born on February 8, 1866 in Florida. On August 10, 1870, Henry is enumerated in the 1870 US Census of Rose Hill, Township 4,Taylor County, Florida with his parents and two baby brothers. On June 28 or 29, 1880, Henry is enumerated in the 1870 US Census of Taylor County, Florida with his parents and six siblings.

2) James Daniel Wade

On June 28 or 29, 1880, Martin is enumerated in the 1870 US Census of Taylor County, Florida with his parents and six siblings. On May 23, 1910, Martin is enumerated with his elderly parents in the 1910 US Census of Precinct #2, Lafayette County, Florida. Martin died October 10, 1927. T. Thomas "Tom" Wade, son of Mary Jane Lewis and Daniel H. "Dan" Wade, was born on March 19, 1878 in Florida. On June 28 or 29, 1880, T_____? Thomas is enumerated as a two year old, in the 1870 US Census of Taylor County, Florida with his parents and five older siblings. On May 23, 1910, Thomas was enumerated in the 1910 US Census of Lafayette County, Florida with his family. They were next door to his parents, three houses from his youngest brother O.T. Wade.

9) Celia Ann "Sealy" Wade

Celia "Sealy" Ann Wade, daughter of Mary Jane Lewis and Daniel H. "Dan" Wade, was born on May 12, 1885 in Florida. Celia married Rufus Lawrece Burney on December 24, 1902 in Mayo, Lafayette County, Florida. By 1910 they have two daughters, Mable and Lessie, and two sons, Daniel H. and James. On 23 May 1910, Celia and her young married family are enumerated in the US Census of Lafayette County, Florida. Celia's older brother, T. Thomas Wade is enumerated next door on one side and her parents and older brother, Martin are enumerated on the other side. One home farther away is her brother, O.T. On January 5, 1920, Sealy her husband, Rufus, and family are enumerated in the 1920 US Census of McAlpin, Suwannee County, Florida. At this time her mother and father and older brother Martin VanBuren are living with her. Sealy has added tow more children, a so R.L.(most likely Robert L. Burney, Jr. after his father) and a daughter Lillie M. Sealy died o December 13, 1973 in New Port Richey, Pasco County, Florida.

10) Oglethorpe Thomas "O.T." Wade

Oglethorpe "O.T." Wade, son of Mary Jane Lewis and Daniel H. "Dan" Wade, was born on January 25, 1889 in Perry, Taylor County, Florida. On May 23, 1910, O.T. was enumerated in the 1910 US Census of Lafayette County, Florida with his family. They were next door to his parents, three houses from his older brother Thomas T. Wade and six houses from Malcom McInnis, his in-laws.
